All about previewing
Before you publish, preview!
Previewing lets you double-check your survey before publishing and sending it to your recipients. Importantly, previewing doesn’t capture data or increase your response count — so preview all you like!
There are other benefits too:
1 | The preview is an accurate recreation of what your survey takers will experience |
2 | Switch smoothly between desktop and mobile views |
3 | Tastefully touch-up your survey's look and feel → with a click of the paintbrush icon |
Previewing Drafts (or Unpublished) surveys
Preview, then return to your editing page and change anything you don't like in your Drafts or 'Unpublished' surveys section — which are also identified by a tag on their survey cards. (See Editing Surveys)
To locate the preview option:
- 1
-
Click My surveys → then click open the Drafts tab
- 2
- Select any Unpublished survey card
- 3
- Locate the Preview button near the top of the editing page
To preview:
- 1
- Click the Preview button → as marked as #3 above
- 2
-
Take the survey as if you are a participant → by selecting responses and tapping the Next and Previous buttons
- 3
- Flip through the questions → using the forward and backward arrows
- 4
- Click the mobile preview icon located at the bottom of the page
- 5
- If you’ve included logic → test each condition
- 6
- If you've added a link to a Thank you message → test it too!
- 7
- Click ← Back to editing, and make your corrections!
Previewing a Published survey
When you open a Published survey, you’ll be taken to your 'Results' page — so there’s an extra step required to open the Preview option. There are also limitations on what you can change if you catch a mistake — as explained in Editing Published (vs. Unpublished) surveys.
To preview a Published survey:
- 1
- Click on the survey's card from the Published section of the Surveys index
- 2
- Click the Edit survey button on the 'Results' page
- 3
- Click the Preview button
- 4
- Preview as explained above → in the Unpublished section
- 5
- Click ← Back to editing to close the preview
Changing your survey's branding as you preview
To customize your survey's look and feel as you preview:
- 1

Branding applies globally
Branding applies to all of the surveys in your account, so if you make a change to one survey, all surveys will be updated to reflect your brand-new look.
